The Science Working Group

To achieve its objectives of halting mangrove loss, implementing science-based restoration and building awareness of mangroves the GMA’s aims to use cutting edge science to guide its activities. The GMA Science groups role is to:

  • Facilitate a network of mangrove scientists, and make connections between scientists and GMA members
  • Provide science to support GMA member conservation actions, policy and goals
  • Assist in developing science priorities in GMA and communicating those to the science community. 
  • Contribute to developing best practice guidelines for mangrove restoration and conservation actions
  • Develop and promote the Global Mangrove Watch platform
  • Develop and promote the Mangrove Restoration Tracking Tool
