THE LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE
WORKING GROUP
We are the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) Learning & Knowledge Working Group, and our role is straightforward but essential.
There is already a wealth of science, guidance, and tools on mangrove restoration and conservation — but these only have real impact when they are adapted to the realities of each place and effectively shared across communities, practitioners, and decision-makers. That is why we work with national and local experts: to listen, to learn, and to connect ideas, experiences, and solutions that might otherwise remain isolated.
Our added value is in creating these links across countries and contexts, through collaborative platforms, knowledge exchanges, and capacity-building initiatives that make sure that lessons learned in one place can inspire and inform others. We facilitate peer-to-peer learning, document best practices, and translate technical knowledge into practical guidance tailored to different ecological and socio-economic contexts.
By grounding global learning in local expertise and experience, we can help make mangrove restoration more effective, relevant, and lasting — ultimately supporting healthier coastal ecosystems, more resilient communities, and scaled conservation impact worldwide.
